Sumida Farm located in ‘Aiea has been growing watercress year round in the fresh water springs of the Kalauao since 1928. The Kalauao Springs serve as a reminder of how the land, water, and people are interconnected. Emi and Kyle Suzuki represent the fourth generation of Sumidas to manage the small family business and act as stewards of the aina. Over the last three decades, the farm has proudly hosted thousands of keiki on school field trips to the farm. For many keiki, this was the first opportunity to see a working farm and make a connection with the produce they see in restaurants and grocery stores and with the people caring for the land and growing their food.
